Attorney Lillian Wong to Present at BSEA Mock Trial
We’re excited to share that our founding attorney, Lillian Wong, will be featured as a panelist at an upcoming Mock Trial of a Bureau of Special Education Appeals (BSEA) Hearing—an educational event designed to illuminate the strategies and techniques used in special education litigation.
Hosted by a distinguished panel of attorneys and a sitting BSEA Hearing Officer, this mock trial will walk attendees through a simulated placement dispute involving a student with disabilities. The central question: Has the school district offered an appropriate program in the least restrictive environment, or is an out-of-district placement necessary for the student to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE)?
Topics include:
Framing the case for hearing
Organizing exhibits and preparing witnesses
Strategies for direct and cross-examination
Presenting legal arguments grounded in IDEA
What persuades a hearing officer—and what doesn’t
Event Highlights:
Simulated BSEA hearing featuring experienced attorneys
Commentary from BSEA Hearing Officer Rosa I. Figueroa
Q&A with the expert panel
Real-world guidance on how to litigate special education placement disputes
Faculty Includes:
Lillian E. Wong, Esq., Noble Education Law LLC
Alisia E. St. Florian, Esq., Murphy, Hesse, Toomey & Lehane LLP (Chair)
Paige L. Tobin, Esq., Murphy, Lamere & Murphy, PC
Rosa I. Figueroa, Esq., BSEA Hearing Officer
This is a must-attend event for attorneys, advocates, and parents seeking a deeper understanding of how special education cases are built and argued before the BSEA.
